Keep your heart with all diligence,
For out of it spring the issues of life.
Proverbs 4:23New King James Version (NKJV)
I first became aware that in a sense there were three groups of people many years ago when I was reading one of Dr Myles Munroe’s books, Understanding Your Potential. I stumbled upon a page, the forward to the book to be precise where Dr Jerry Horner said that “people generally fall into one of three groups: the few who make things happen, the many who watch things happen and the overwhelming majority who have no notion of what happens.”
This realization led me to search and study the scriptures to find out what it had to say about these classes of people. This blog post is a summary of my findings. One of my main observation was that people are a product of what they thought and how they thought, the place or circumstance of their birth notwithstanding. Enjoy …..
Those Who Wonder What Happened
People in this level of thinking are those who waste their life. They are prodigal in their lifestyle and live only for the moment; hence instant gratification is a major driving force. They are usually lazy and are willing to sell their tomorrow for a temporary convenience today. They may be endowed with incredible potential, but they are not willing to take any concrete steps towards its development. They may be great talkers, but their walk never measures up to their talk. They talk the talk but do not walk the walk. People in this category have ‘a hiding mentality’. To make your life count if this applies to you, you will need a radical change of mentality backed up by relevant actions in maximizing your abilities and possibilities. Remember that if you change your mind, you can change your world as you know it!
Those Who Watch Things Happen
These kinds of people generally are those who spend their life. They are satisfied with just merely getting by in life. Because they have a tendency to aim for nothing, they also achieve nothing meaningful in life. They are satisfied with the status-quo and are usually averse to change and risk taking. People in this category usually have ‘an employment mentality’. To make your life count if you are starting from this category, you will need a mentality makeover that will prompt you to action. My friend, faith without corresponding action will produce nothing! So rise up to action! Where there is a will, there will always be a way!
Those Who Make Things Happen
The people in this level of thinking are those who have made up their minds to invest their life. They are normally simple and frugal in their manner of life and they live to create a legacy of significance; so delayed gratification is an attribute they can embrace easily. They do not only work hard, they also work smart and are willing to buy the future with a present temporary inconvenience. They understand and embrace the power of sacrifice in pursuit of their purpose and passion. They are usually dissatisfied with the norm and usually embrace the mindset of personal development, entrepreneurship and innovation. They are driven by a ‘deployment mentality’. In this category are all the pioneers, entrepreneurs, innovators, trailblazers, trendsetters, barrier breakers and out of the box thinkers of this world. They are motivated by a desire and passion for making a difference for good in their world and spheres of influence.
I want to challenge you to rise up and be counted! Rise up and take your rightful place! There is more to life than you currently know or have experienced. You can become better. Your life can still count if you decide to start today with what you have and from where you are.
It is your turn and your time to make a difference. Seize it!
